05.03.2024 Attention control and structures

Attention control within a set structure is particularly difficult for me right now. 1. Because my ability to focus deeply and therefore control my attention has decreased in general due to shallow habits 2. During that time the focus I do have left has been applied to understanding, criticizing, deconstructing and reconstructing set structures, many of which I find much too set and narrow. These activities imply frames of mind/attention that are not effectively the same as the kinds required to work and focus within a (mostly) preexisting and (mostly) set structure. 2 “problems” arise from this situation: 1. I need to work within set structures at some point in timespace (as of now that point is the next few hours and more generally the next few weeks) because it is required of me to pass my classes 2. The attention control underlying the ability to focus on understanding, criticizing, deconstructing and reconstructing set structures and the attention control required to focus within a set structure have relevant areas of overlap. This is a “problem” because as of now I quite prefer one kind (the former) to the other. But what I prefer more on a general level is the ability to focus and the connections between these two types of attention control make a cultivation of both necessary for an ultimate increase in my ability to focus.
